Fall 2013 Team Anarchy Tournament

This official Descent 1 2v2 Team Anarchy tournament took place during the two weeks from Sunday, September 29th to Saturday, October 12th. A tie-breaker match to determine second place was played on Sunday, October 27th.

Results

9 out of 15 matches were played by the end of the tournament. The final placement is:
Winner: Black Team B (Dravis, RiTides, Hawkins, Zorc) with 8 points
Runner-up: Red Team B (LoNi_, NaphthaTurisas, Shroudeye) with 6 points
Third place: Red Team A (Ryusei117, LotharBot, Drakona, Seiryu24) with 6 points
Fourth place: Blue Team (JinX, Ryguy, spud, martini) with 4 points
Fifth place: Black Team A (Pigmy, Jediluke, Icewolf, Greenbear) with 3 points
Gold Team (Sirius, DH, Tigeron, Darkman) entered but did not participate.

All members of the winning team receive Medals of Honor. All members of the runner-up team receive Medals of Valor. Black Squad receives a Medal of Pride.

Rules

Teams participating in this tournament will be selected by squad leaders before the tournament commences. While it is a 2v2 tournament, teams will have at least three players to allow for substitutions; the players in a game will be chosen from team members present at the time of the match. There is no upper limit on the number of players in a team, although it is recommended they be kept reasonably small to allow more people to play. Players cannot be shared between teams, even if they do not expect to play for their team. All players on a team must come from the same squad. Squads are allowed to field multiple teams if they have sufficient players. The teams nominated by a squad should be considered final; any subsequent changes to teams will require approval by the tournament sponsor (Sirius).

"Star rating" restrictions are in effect when playing games: the sum of the lifetime star ratings for the two players must be between 4 and 6 (inclusive). Team members are not required to have compatible star ratings with every other member of their team, but in the interests of playing more games it is recommended where achievable.

During the course of the tournament, each team can play each other team once. Members taking part in a game are to decide, before playing, whether the game will count toward the tournament. Games played for the tournament should be submitted through the Rangers website, with the event "Fall 2013 Team Anarchy Tournament" selected. Upon conclusion of the tournament, bonus KPs and GPs will also be awarded to participating members, according to standard official tournament rules.

Games are scored on a points system, with the team with the highest point total at the end of the tournament being the winner. Points are awarded as follows:
Winning team: 2 points
Losing team: 1 point
If a pair of teams is unable to complete their match for the tournament, no points will be awarded for that game.

All games are to be played in Descent 1. Levels will be chosen from the following list:

When arranging a match, each team may choose to "vote out" up to three levels from consideration. The level to be played will then be chosen from the remaining levels by the members involved in the game. Standard Rangers rules apply for other game settings, including that weapons (such as Homing and Mega Missiles) can be blocked by mutual consent. The default game version is the official D1X-Rebirth 0.57.3 release, but 0.58.1 or Drakona's homing weapon mod may also be used if all players agree.

The tournament will run from midnight (MDT) on September 29th until midnight (MDT) on October 12th. Matches must be completed within this window to count towards the tournament.

Medals of Honor will be awarded to the members of the first-placed team (including the reserve player). Medals of Valor will be awarded to the members of the second-placed team (including the reserve player). In the event of ties for first or second place, tie-breaker matches will be played between the tied teams to determine final placement. Scheduling of tie-breakers will be determined between teams with the tournament organizer's approval should the need for them eventuate. A Medal of Pride will be awarded to the squad of the team that wins the tournament.
