Special thanks to
Dravis for conducting this interview.
Dravis: Describe how your pilot name came to be your pilot name.
Pigmy: Back in eigth grade, when I started playing online games for the first time, I was really into the free MMO called Runescape. At the same time, I also liked a show called Camp Lazlo. Lazlo the Monkey was the main character. He had two best friends, Raj the Elephant, and Clam the Albino Pygmy Rhino. I really liked the name AlbinoRhino, but at the time that was too long for Runescape's username, so I shortened it to PigmyRhino. (The misspelling was due to my own inability to spell properly, lol) Now everytime the internet asks me to use an alias, I use PigmyRhino or just Pigmy.
Dravis: What drew you in to the Descent Rangers?
Pigmy: In late 2009, I used to be a part of the D2X-XL core bug testing team. Among those core testers was
Blarget2, who is also a Ranger. Early on in 2010, we left the testing team due to complications with the lead programmer of XL and
Blarget told me about the Rangers. Being reluctant to join another online community so quickly, I held off for a while and it was not until late 2011 that I finally signed up for the Rangers.
Dravis: How long have you been playing Descent for?
Pigmy: I have been playing Descent on and off since 1996. Believe it or not, my Mom is the one who introduced the game to me. We had shareware growing up and I remember installing IPX drivers on the house computers so my Mom and I could play together. (My Dad got mad at me cause I did it without his permission, lol)
Dravis: What other kinds of games are you interested in?
Pigmy: I like real time strategy, like Age of Empires. I also enjoy lots of Minecraft, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Arcade Games, and pretty everything that isn't Call of Duty.
Dravis: What hobbies are you interested in outside of gaming?
Pigmy: I love music, and play bass guitar in three different groups. One is a rock band called Quantum Paradox. The second group is a Green Day Tribute Band called All God's Losers. and the third group is a rock outfit of elite musicians of Lowell. I also like to compose and arrange music as well.
Dravis: Would you recommend Descent to other people and would you recommend the Rangers to other people?
Pigmy: I recommend Descent to a lot of people, and seven times out of ten, they will let me install it on their computers so they can play a game or two with me. As for the Rangers, I talk to people about the Rangers, but people think they need to develop some sort of skill in order to join, so they are reluctant to do so.
